About Us

The Kennebec Camps in North Belgrade Maine (1907-1991) were started in 1907 by Louis Fleisher, Charles Edwin Fox, and Milton Katzenberg. Its initial mission held firm through its 84 year history. As handed down through various owners in its history, Kennebec provided an extraordinary summer for boys. Between competitive athletics and wilderness trips, the camps became the standard by which most other Maine summer camps were measured. People say “It was a special place”, “It helped mold me into the person I am today”. “It was the most fun experience of my life”, and similar comments. One of the great features of The Kennebec Camps was its staff. Many of the counselors returned summer after summer, some as long as 50+ years! They helped make the difference.

This website is for alumni and former staff members of The Kennebec Camps.  It is a place to reminisce, to reconnect with old friends, and to relive some of the great memories of time spent in a very special part of Maine.
